Paint, colour and play

Creative play started off as a great way to use up left over paint or to let off some frustration but now it has become an important part of my art making process.
I start by mixing up a group of acrylic paint colours, to see what colour combinations, shades and tints I can achieve.
To get a better understanding of how these colours look I then have a play on art papers or as a first layer of paint on a canvas, using palette knives/brushes. It is also a great way to discover different effects. These play times are now my inspiration pieces and hang in my studio.
